The South Melbourne Child Care Co-operative Ltd. (Neighborhood House) shall endeavour to equip our children with social, emotional, physical and cognitive skills that are developmentally appropriate for each child.  We are committed to catering for individual children and their differences, and hence maximising the potential of each child.  We aim to ensure that each child has a feeling of self-worth and develops skills to become an effective individual as well as a group member.

We believe children learn through play and that parents, staff and the Management Committee form a partnership that depends heavily on direct and continuing consultation - which will stimulate each child's learning according to individual needs.  Ultimately we aim to develop children who are self-directing and continous learners who are able to handle themselves and achieve in our society.
